Irish Ferries and Stena Line have agreed to cooperate, scheduling a daly Ireland – France sailings. The announcement comes following concerns of delays in land bridge sailings via the UK, expressed Irish hauliers, ahead of the end of the UK’s EU transition agreement.

Currently, around 150,000 lorries per year use the UK land bridge via ports in England and Wales to continental Europe. Stena Line has previously said that there is surplus capacity on their Rosslare – Cherbourg route, and that the company can deploy larger tonnage should demand require it.

Both Irish Ferries and Stena line both sail from Ireland three times a week. The new arrangement will see the companies offer sailings on their current routes on alternate weeks. Each company will sail from Ireland on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday on the same week that the other sails on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Irish Ferries will continue to sail from Dublin to Cherbourg, while Stena Line will continue to sail from Rosslare to Cherbourg.
