Strange news alright, guess the press just picked it up.
Just does not make sense, as
“Brittany Ferries told the BBC it was contracted to add 19 weekly return sailings to three of its routes: Roscoff to Plymouth, Cherbourg to Poole and Le Havre to Portsmouth - a 50% increase on its current schedule.”
Surely if there was a massive spike in demand for services companies like BF would change their schedules anyway to maximize the business they can do and run schedules much more intensively on these crossings. Even redeployment of fleet to maximize the chance to make money.
Now the Government are paying them nearly 50 million to add more crossings ? !
And then giving 14 million to a company with no routes/ships to provide crossings- bizarre.
