i quite like the name julia, it's grown on me i must say, when i first heard it i thought to myself it really didnt suit a ferry with standard crossings and conditions, i thought it would be more suited to a cruise ship or something but over time ive really come to like it as a name, it gives the ship a bit of character and personality rather than stena europe or isle of innishmore or something

i did indeed get that book a while back, i could scan them but you know the way scanning usually results in a broken book spine, great book though, highly recommended.

On a similar note can anyone help me identify this hip in rosslare ?

it seems to be the st david alright, the st david had been serving the route at the time and the more pics i look at of david the more this judgement seems accurate, i now have it hanging in my sittingroom, i love pics of the old harbour before it was changed so vastly, that said if anyone knows where i might obtain more old pics of the harbour featuring some of her old ships id be interested

i think you might be right with that one, at that time my mother was working in the building to the right of the picture and i remember her often talking about the st david

Hello, recently I bought an original print of this postcard, in reasonably good nick too, the photo is taken in Rosslare Harbour, I'm just wondering if anyone could help me identify what ship it is in the picture?

Many thanks

what will become of europe then would you think? end of the road or passed on to another route/company

for what reasons is the europe being replaced? Has she simply reached the end of her life or is it from an ecenomic standpoint theyre deciding to replace her. It'll be wierd to see rosslare without her, that said i'm sure at the time i said the same thing about the felicity

i think the europe was indeed 80 or 81, there seems to be a lot more places to wander on the europe, it seems less freight orientated, so if you like wandering about the ship id go for the europe but i much prefer the crossing on the irish ferries, just more stuff to see coming into pembroke dock

i chose celtic link simply because ive not sailed with them as yet and it appears that their current boat is in its last month or so of services here in rosslare so id like to have a chance on that before she's gone
