Quote from: boathansm on March 28, 2024, 10:02:30 AMIs Stena Horizon still chartered to Stena Line? When does her contract expire?

Would assume yes, don't recall any purchase announcement, think its charter fee is around $20,000 per day (going on memory from when it was renewed.

Don't remember too many sunny evenings like this recently, but link below is to a nice drone shot video of the Stena Europe docking in Rosslare.

A sight that will end soon as it is due to leave the Stena Line Irish Sea fleet once the Bore Song arrives to release the Stena Nordica back to its own route and assuming the jack up rig is returned to service in Fishguard.

This should make some of us feel old (well me anyway as I was finishing college when the First new build of modern IF history arrived)

The former Isle of Innisfree first introduced in the mid 90s by Irish Ferries getting a life Extension refit !

The Ala'Suinu delivery voyage is taking what seems to be a long time, currently off the coast of Angola due to stop in Luanda so quite A distance to go yet.

The rumour mill is in overdrive today and the latest indications are the IF are in the lead to purchase the Spirit of Britain with a team apparently onboard carrying out an inspection obviously for their Dover - Calais service which will then release the Innisfree to the Rosslare Pembroke service (which in a previous life under Stena RoRo ownership as Stena Royal was rumoured at one time to be heading to Rosslare Fishguard for Stena Line which of course never happened).

Still strange to sell such a modern ship to a direct competitor but something strange is happening at P&O and Irish Ferries look to be in the front of the queue to acquire one of the Spirits.

This would also solve the Norbay's lack of suitability for Rosslare Pembroke and put a decent if very heavily worked ferry onto the Pembroke route.

Quote from: Niall on March 25, 2024, 08:42:38 PMIt seems almot certain that Atlantic Vision will not be joining Irish Ferries

Unconfirmed reports on Facebook that a Stena crew are onboard preparing the Atlantic Vision for its return to Europe, more likely a Tallink crew but you never know what's happening next.

Spirit of Britain currently off service in Dunkerque alongside Cote D'opale which is the DFDS EFlexer in drydock.

Instead of P&O running their fleet of the four newest vessels on the crossing at max capacity and max frequency to essentially crush any opposition in the Dover Calais business, it really does appear that one of the Spirits will be leaving the fleet soon to end up in competition with the company that created it.

Leaving aside their bizarre approach to HR and employment rights etc this is a fall from grace that would have been hard to predict in the days when the Prides of Dover & Calais were in operation and dominated the route.

Great pictures, what a fabulous design, a shame they ruined it with the scrubber installation.

Looks like Stena Europe's final crossings will be mid April as when Bore Song arrives Nordica will return to Rosslare Fishguard route, so around 14/16 April, at the same time or earlier Horizon should be back to Cherbourg service (last time I think the drydock period for Horizon took a couple of weeks longer than planned.)

Some great shots of Nordica arriving in Liverpool and Horizon departing click right from this link
