@ Ferryfan, Yes Irish Ferries DO offer day trips on Dublin-Holyhead, 46 euro return, except at Christmas, the fare is increased to 86 euro return.. a quick check on the website under day trips/special offers will confirm this. I tried to do a day trip on Oscar Wilde, but it wasn't available

That's not a day trip it is even advertised as a "foot passenger minicruise" a quick look in a dictionary would confirm this to you. At €48 it would be a very expensive day trip. Stena were doing day trips ex Dublin and Rosslare up to December for €6.50 and from Belfast to Glasgow a day trip costs £10

No need for that...a quick look in a dictionary... ::)

Thanks Steven, going to try and get a booking onto Nordica while she covers SFX.

Great to see Nordica back in Dublin, anybody know when she will be on the Holyhead run?

Yes, that's why I asked the question, just wondering why Europe, Horizon etc don't go to Belfast but I can see the issues with frequency & berth requirements.

Why can't Holyhead have a Superfast from Belfast?

20.30 Superfast X sailing is delayed tonight (Sunday). A problem with the Stena ramp, I think it is probably the lower ramp as SFX is currently moving berth.

If it was the upper ramp that was damaged we would have loaded through the lowerdeck and driven up.

Definitely port side ramp - not lowering properly to a flat position

Usual full sailing so we may be away by 10.30pm as loading will commence shortly.

Might have knock on effect for Adventurer later if fault is not fixed as she will have to wait for Ulysses

Thanks for the info, very useful for us who are regularly traveling with Stena via Holyhead.

Looks like she is currently traveling between Barcelona and Tanger Med, Morocco.

SFX had two cancelled sailings on Sun 7th Aug - 8.55am Holyhead and 15.10 Dublin

Adventurer had a delayed departure of 2.5hrs on Sunday afternoon at Holyhead. SFX blocked a berth so Adventurer had to wait for Ulysses to berth before docking

There were then approx 1400 passengers on board for a delayed return crossing from Dublin picking up usual load + passengers off the cancelled 15.10

It was feared that SFX would have to be drydocked at one point but the technical issue was resolved

I heard about this, some unhappy customers I believe. What was the technical issue with SFX?

I have seen areas closed & sectioned off many times on quiet sailings. Makes sense I suppose.

Yeah, they have been there for years, passed them many times on the way round to the ferry.
