A refit could have been a term of the charter, and ICG would have a deal with H&W to do all their ships.

Quote from: giftgrub on November 28, 2023, 06:29:25 PMStena Europe is heading back to UK due into Falmouth at the weekend Dec 3rd !!!

Of all the surprised we have had this year, Stena Europe coming back has to be the least expected!

The News Board / Re: Brittany Ferries fleet movements

As a result of Storm Ciarán (nothing to do with me!), Brittany Ferries have had to cancel all over night sailings tonight, and all sailings tomorrow.

This has resulted in Salamanca being diverted to Ringaskiddy (she's on at the new container terminal), while Armorique is on the ro-ro berth. Possibly the first time we have had 2 BF ships along side in Cork at the same time?

Quote from: Davy Jones on October 17, 2023, 12:19:52 AMIf anybody can recognise the coastline in the video I would be pleased to know.
Shes in İskenderun, just north of the Lebanon/Syrian border on the med - https://maps.app.goo.gl/zZixsmtU8dBcdYmz5

No idea how she moved, but looks like it happened after the earthquake earlier this year.

Quote from: Davy Jones on September 30, 2023, 09:37:23 AMI also wonder what they are going to do with Stena Carisma. As far as I know, she is still sat on her link-span in Gothenberg.

She was still there in 2001 anyhow, and looked ok! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vMl2kbL064I

The Merrion Lounge / Irish naval service operation

I'm sure we have all seen Irish defence forces have had a busy few days between the Navy interception then the Army Rangers storming the MV Matthew (and seizing 2.2 tons of cocaine) and the rescue of a trawler discovered to be involved in smuggling also.

Despite serious staffing shortages, especially in the Naval service, it's was some incredible work in some very nasty conditions. Hopefully the crews get the recognition for the job they did, and longer terms, we see the wages of crews addressed to build numbers.

The other issue with them is weight - electric cars are 200-300kgs heavier than their petrol counterparts. I would suspect that could cause issues with things like retractable mezzanine decks.

I saw else where there is work planned for the ferry berth in Bilbao, so the change of port may just be temporary.

Mod note:I don't like where this discussion is going around these accidents. These incidents have left families grieving, and crews trying to deal with a truly difficult situation.

I have no problem with people reporting items like this (and the MCIB or other reports), but can I'd rather we avoided speculation around what happened here.

That took a bit longer than i expected, but it's back!

Ah, good spot! There was an update to the back end that appears to have broken the front page. I'll sort that now!

Quote from: Ncol on May 31, 2023, 07:36:18 AMShes tipping along at a nifty 28 this morning.

I wonder is she just making up time or do they plan on this as an inservice speed?

She regularly ran similar speeds between Tallin and Helsinki when i sailed her previously.

That's 51km/h, seriously impressive for a ship! - must cost a fortune in fuel to run at that speed!

She's in great condition inside and out.
