I've written a blog post about the sale of Jonathan Swift. Please read it and tell me your thoughts? https://liamfjournalist.wordpress.com/2018/01/30/a-swift-exit/

Why has the Isle Of Inishmore gone to Falmouth? Why not Birkenhead like Ulysses and Dublin Swift?

Has it actually been confirmed that IF are replacing the Swift? I've read pure speculation on this site for the past few months, but nothing concrete...

Terrible decision by IOMSPC to use Holyhead as a berthing trial. I fear for the Liverpool-IOM services now

Someone has posted on the 'Ferries and Ships of the Irish Sea & Beyond' Facebook group, that the Jonathan Swift will be leaving Irish Ferries in September. She will apparently be going to Balleria in Ibiza on a full time charter.

Does anybody know if this is true?

Tough old girls are the 'Darwins'. I think they are great ships to sail on. To be honest regardless what anyone thinks of P&O these are really nice vessels. Comfortable ships, and for 2003 their interiors were cutting edge, and in many respects set the standard.
Ive seen ships being scrapped looking better than poor old Kent there.  The rust around the MES lines is to be expected, but some pretty bad patches on the bow doors there by the looks of things.  Hopefully she will get a full repaint.  The guys in France on Facebook will probably have pictures in the next couple of days - looks like she is adjacent to Malo Seaways (which appears to still be afloat).

By P&O's own standards the Darwins due replacement in the next few years.  It'll be interesting to see what with. Personally I don't think it will be a repeat of the Spirits, but thats just speculation.

European Endeavour should be dry docked in the next few months, anyone want to run a book on what livery she will emerge in ;) ?

The Darwins will be renamed Pride of Cairnryan & Pride of Larne and cascaded to the North Channel. European Causeway & European Highlander will be lengthened and transferred to Liverpool to Dublin.

Oh and European Endeavour will be out looking stunning in the new P&O Livery, and completing a very smart Irish Sea Fleet :)

Is there any truth in this? Or is just speculation?

I remember there was talk of the Stena Horizon being replaced on the Rosslare-Cherbourgh route. Is Norman Asturias her possible replacement?

If Irish Ferries were to purchase these ferries a bow door installation similar to Superfast X and minor modifications to the stern with addition of a club class lounge would be enough to make this ferries ideal for operation for both short and long journeys.

I travelled on a full swift on Friday. There has been some improvements made to her with extra seating, new floors and carpets and little touches based on crew feedback.

Swift fills its own market nice and its now better than ever.

Any pictures of the improvements made to the Dublin Swift?

No, the links aren't working. Do you have the link to the ferries group you mentioned? I can't seem to find it when I search it through Google.

Technically it's my fault. I should have remember that Ulysses unloads at Holyhead from her stern, not her bow.

This happened in the early hours of Wednesday morning. My aunt was travelling with Eurolines to Liverpool, on the 20:55 sailing from Dublin to Holyhead aboard Ulysses, and as the passengers were heading to the coaches to depart from the ferry, they could see a fire at the front of the ship, apparently caused by the connecting bow ramps on Ulysses berth ''burning out'' (that is what Irish Ferries told people on board anyway), my aunt told me. All passengers were sent back to reception on deck 9, and were told to wait until the fire was put out. In the end, Ulysses couldn't unload at her usual berth and had to move to the Stena Adventurer's berth, once Adventurer departed on her early morning sailing to Dublin. Ulysses 02:40am sailing to Dublin was delayed by three hours.
