The News Board / Re: Stena Line fleet movements

Have all the linkspan problems been rectified at Fishguard. After seeing what the Isle of Man Steam Packet are having their new ferry built, would Stena have a new ferry built purely for the Fishguard route or is it after the loss of traffic freight wise/blamed on Brexit would they discontinue the route once the Europe is no longer economically viable to operate on the route??

Seats onboard not very comfortable, problems with stuff working in their cabin, problems communicating with staff onboard, get priority boarding with having a cabin yet then unaccompanied freight parked around them so having to wait until the tugs come on to take the freight off before they could drive off. They prefer the Pembroke route due to the road network from the port up to St Clears is better than the road that comes down from Fishguard. They said such a let down of an experience with Irish Ferries, the last time they travelled over it was on the Isle of Inishmore

My parents travelled on blue star from rosslare to Pembroke and back. They said it was the worst experience they've ever had on Irish ferries and would not be using the service again if this ship is on the route. Also said how can the ferries make money when there was hardly nobody on the ship, either cars or trucks

What would be a replacement for Stena Europe on the Fishguard Rosslare route if Stena were going to invest in the route with a new ship or would it be that the port would be upgraded to receive a ship in the current fleet that replaces the Europe on the route??

Returned from Ireland this friday from Rosslare, travelled on Stena Europe. Rosslare port had 3 Stena liveried ships in port at the time. Europe, Vinga and the Kerry. Is this a regular sight now to see 3 Stena ships in port at one time?? Is the Kerry still chartered to DFDS, couldn't remember

What is wrong with Stena Europe?? About time for Stena to invest in a new vessel or upgrade the linkspan at Fishguard for other vessels within their fleet to dock there. Is it just the linkspan that prevents most of Stena's vessels from docking there or is it something else.

About time that this happened. The amount of times that the Inishmore has been delayed, and hardly anything done to catch up on the schedule. Only way they would catch up would be by cancelling sailings.

Has there been any more improvements to the port lately or has all the plans and investment that was mooted in the materplan stopped due to covid?

Anyone know what the announcement is regarding the ports future and when it is due? Investment? New routes?

totally agree. i like fishguard better than pembroke. yes that is the unfortunate thing that the linkspan at fishguard can only accommodate the europe or nordica. cannot accommodate anything else. until the linkspan is replaced then the port is crippled with what ships it can accommodate compared to pembroke being able to accommodate the inshore and wb yeats.
i can remember the port in years gone by having the stena lynx catamaran sailing due to the summer months. i would rather travel with stena over irish ferries due to the service that is given onboard, and if there is a delay, there is more customer focus by stena in informing their customers and doing everything to minimise delay and get back to schedule. also, it is when travelling with irish ferries into pembroke, that the ship slows right down when it gets into the mouth of the estuary and then with having to reverse onto the dock in pembroke seems to take ages.

Yep not too far away, just wish there were trains to Waterford instead of just the bus connection if you do not have a car. Will the train station or some of the facilities have to be moved with planned new access road to the port
