Innisfree has made it to Calais, no reported injuries.

Innisfree being held alongside in Calais with a tug, no power for many systems on board (from reports on the Facebook) preventing the mooring lines from being tightened (visible in images) pumping ballast water and presumably pumping out fire fighting water.

The vehicles on board have presumably been removed at this stage.

Could be out of service for awhile if it has affected the power systems onboard.

'The ship, carrying 94 passengers and 89 crew'

That's a very light load and demonstrates the overcapacity that DFDS mention every month on their results announcement.

Isle of Innisfree returned to service this evening making a round trip to Dover and is on the way again. Thankfully the damage cannot have been too bad.

Blue Star one on booking engine up to 1st June after that the sailings are still being offered for sale but no ship is mentioned. Has anyone had any hints or information as to what ship might be replacing Blue Star 1?

I expect the route to be either dropped or a Calais ship to return to rosslare.

Where is Horizon these days?

Two ferries that have been mentioned are the Pelagos (which DFDS had on charter for the Rosslare Dunkerque route) and the Ariadne of Hellenic Seaways.

Of the two Pelagos would be a practical fit for the route and is available.

Doubt if the route will be dropped as Irish Ferries signed a 10 year deal with Pembroke a few years ago.

Pelagos at Rosslare in May 2021 when on charter to DFDS for the Rosslare to Dunkerque route

Niall

Pelagos is a stern loader only and has limited passenger capacity required for the route

Good to see Dublin Swift back running. We've booked a mini break leaving Easter Monday.

WB Yeats sailed out into the teeth of storm Mathis which is currently [9am Irish time]  blowing at 100km/h up the English Channel. Met Eireann forecast high seas off land End last night. Horizon and Salamanca stayed in port yet WBY is currently north west of Guernsey sailing at 20 knots. A creditable performance, however I wonder what conditions on board were like when she rounded Lands End.

Lively I'd guess!

Interestingly France Meteo forecast 'un mer croisee' off the coast of Ushant for Thursday/Friday. This is a cross sea where the waves generated by one depression cross at an angle with those generated by another. There are some suggestions that this can be a dangerous maritime situation as, if the waves are high, it is not possible to run directly into them [or with them] as they are coming at the ship from all angles. Perhaps this would have been a concern for the Salamanca and Port Aven.

Meanwhile WBY left Cherbourg late last evening, I wonder did it wait to pick up the passengers and freight that was destined for the Stena Horizon.
