Another thing to bear in mind is vessels all have their own individual safe parameters for berthing.  Just because a berth is free doesn't mean a given vessel can safely berth there!

Again with Swift, even if she was fully crewed it doesn't mean they could just move her (to where?) on a whim.

Maybe it was too windy to move Swift safely in the Liffey

Ulysses still on berth in Dublin at 11.25 no update on IF site she is scheduled to move off berth at 1200  maybe just to let Epsilon berth as WB is also in port this morning. No idea if she has gone tech or what's happening? Epsilon is circling off Howth atm waiting to enter the port.

IFPete

Ulysses is now sheduled to depart at 1230 Pm and leave holyhead at 1710 PM.

Irish Ferries customer service on facebook stated technical issues

This afternoons Epsilon sailing...
"Irish Ferries regrets to advise that due to berth congestion, the MV Epsilon Cruise Ferry is delayed by approximately 30 mins. Irish ferries would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused by this delay"
Four vessels into two berths is not a good idea (when the swift is running) Congestion in Dublin is becoming a major problem and is set to get worse as works to improve the port proceed.

jgf

Epsilon departed Dublin around 75 mins late and Yeats is updated to dep 30 mins late. Ulysses just approaching  Holyhead now at 4.30

This could be the reason they might switch French services back to Rosslare in 2020. There are definitely rumours to that effect doing the rounds plus there have been too many occasions where berth congestion at Dublin has led to too many delays this year.

Not going to happen. Wishful thinking and nothing more.

Yeats was brought in based on building a year round freight business for Dublin-France - can't see them abandoning that after a single season

Epsilon delayed docking in Holyhead as awaiting Ulysses to leave the berth, which happened at 19.30. was she slow crossing or delayed docking?

all Ulysses 2055 ex Dublin pax transferred to Stena  Adventurer tonight.

WBY dep 1 hour late

IFPete

Rosslare - France might come back with least tonnage. WBY will stay in Dublin.

This is what I've been hearing as well.  It's not due to the lack of traffic that any switch will happen, but more to do with the lack of space at Dublin - particularly when something goes wrong.  Freight in particular depends on reliability and if Irish Ferries can't provide it at Dublin they will go elsewhere!

Agree, but it could be a case of Irish Ferries hand being forced.  They are using essentially the same infrastructure for ULYSSES, EPSILON, Swift, and W.B. YEATS as was previously designed for use just by ULYSSES and JONATHAN SWIFT at Dublin.

The problems with ULYSSES yesterday just highlighted the problem further when she was blocking 51 all morning due to a technical issue (requiring two tugs to get her on her way). Yeats had to go bow in at 49a - far from ideal given its single tier and the narrowness of the bow ramp with everything having to come off through that one door.  Luckily 49a wasn't in use yesterday as Swift is off service or it would have been an even bigger headache.

As with all rumours, it's just a rumour.  As I said above it would be a huge U-turn on the part of Irish Continental Group and see them surrendering their big advantage at being located in Dublin over the competition from Rosslare and Cork.

Is something wrong with Inishmore?  She's going on backwards at Rosslare and Milford Haven

Jeans

Going out to Rosslare all was ok but coming back on Saturday Inishmore had reversed into Rosslare. Never had that before. The coaches went on as normal but had to swing round to disembark.

Steven

Looks like she has issues with her bow door.  Off service tonight because of "weather".  Will be interesting to see if she loads through the bow tomorrow!
