Former Stena Alegra in final phase of rebuilding as Kaiarahi and is floating again, going to need lots of white paint to hide the rust streaks once it enters service.

maybe a little off topic but now DFDS have the Mfl boats it would be nice to have the Ex Stena Nordica back up in the route as a freight only one sailing a day option, she has the deck height and space to take the huge amount of drops and is already tried and tested :)

DFDS have to be careful though. Last thing they want is to get in a war with P&O. European Seaway can also gobble up freight, and is well proven on the route. Currently the European Seaway is doing nothing, only costing P&O money being laid up. If DFDS wanted to put Stena Nordica into action, that would mean they would have four ships on Dover to Calais, and three on Dover to Dunkirk, the total coming to seven. P&O currently only have 5 vessels working the route.

I'm sure P&O wouldn't be too pleased to see the 'new kid on the block' (more of a headache than bumbling Seafrance) eat into more of their flagship route. If P&O wanted to they could counter Stena Nordica (Malo Seaways) deployment by re-activating European Seaway. P&O Ferries own the vessel, unlike DFDS who are having to charter, hence could probably offer more competitive prices to freight users.

way off topic here guys, not sure if there is a misunderstanding here, Malo Seaways will be part of DFDS fleet from Dover - Calais when sailings resume at the weekend, Rodin/ Berlioz will take quite a long time before they resume service in DFDS colours. - Any futher DFDS related talk should really take place on the Goodbye Myferry Link thread or DFDS fleet movements.

Agreed. Although I'll just say it looks quite likely the Seaway will be back in service on the Strait.
Anyway back to Stena, by the end of the month the Amber II should've arrived in Turkey with the HSS Discovery.
Has the Carisma moved yet, will the Trelleborg come back into service and does anyone know when the Ask takes over from the Scanrail?

Ask is to renamed Stena Gothica and takes over from the Scanrail in September, according to latest reports.

Stena Carisma was moved for Volvo Ocean Race, but could be moved back to the linkspan in a few days.

Thanks Giftgrub, it's good the Ask is getting a new name. Does this mean that the Urd will be operating the Travemunde-Liepaja route by herself then, or have they got a second vessel lined up?

Apparently lots of expensive cars on the Europe this evening as a family member visiting the harbour reported seeing multiple Bentleys, Astons etc coming up the hill as the Stena Europe, Stena Horizon, Epsilon were in port and the Isle of Inishmore was heading to Rosslare.
