Glad to see someone agrees with me regarding Superfast X. Today's sailings are either cancelled or delayed for technical reasons?
Do any forum members remember the sailing times from Dun Laoghaire in the early 1990's when Hibernia and Cambria were on the route?
My recollection is that the two ships sailed within a couple of hours of each other one at around 9.00 and the other at 11.00 am and pm. The morning times certainly suited me much better than the current schedule.

I think unfortunately  due to  schedules etc , Stena rushed the superfast  into service before she was fully ready ,hence the problems being encountered..  Her firs big test will be later next week , when the15.00 hrs from dublin is going to be full to the rafters, what she will be like to travel on ,with 1,200 passangers on board ,I don't know ,hopefully she has been re designed with a full load of passangers in mind. One thing I know for sure is that during the summer , the 15.00 hrs sailing out of dublin is going to be jammed to the rafters very often, when you look at the last few seasons , the early afternoon sailings to holyhead are very popular , and even on quiet days in the summer the HSS and nordica carried 900+ passangers between them on the afternoon sailings ,and during the busy days the Hss had up to 1,400 on board + nordicas 400 giving 1,800 on the busy afternoon sailing days , so going on that there will now be a lot less capacity on the afternoon stena sailing to holyhead than there was ,so irish ferries are going to pick up a fair surplus of old stena passangers from the afternoon run, that is unless a lot transfer to the early adventurer departure, but the summer holiday travellers are usually quiet set in their ways and times . A interesting summer ahead for sure.

The Superfast X certainly looks a lovely ship, and is a big upgrade from the Nordica. But replacing a well designed revolutionary fast ferry with a slower, smaller conventional ferry is hardly an advancement for the travelling public whatever way it's looked at. The name 'Superfast' is also very confusing for the general public, the name gives certain expectations to Joe soap!

The Stena Germanica's conversion to methanol has been completed and it is ready to return to service with a green wave on the hull and forward passenger block.

Superfast VIII returns to service tomorrow afternoon following a quick refit and repaint, meaning the end of the Stena Nordica's time on the Irish Sea for Stena Line for at least the next 18 months as it begins a new life on Dover - Calais for DFDS in April.

Some interesting images of the Stena Germanica's methanol conversion on the link below, the ship also got a new bulbous bow when in drydock.

Former Irish Sea ro-pax Stena Feronia (ex Dublin Seaways, Dublin Viking, Mersey Viking) has been renamed Strait Feronia and has
adopted the New Zealand flag. She is currently in dry dock at Ladskrona being prepared for a new life in the Southern Hemisphere operating for New Zealand company Strait Shipping under their Blue Bridge brand. Stena Feronia was of course one of the two lead vessels of the Visentini ro-pax series.

In other news, Stena Nordica has had her stern ramp removed and some additional steel work added in Dunkerque.  Some pictures have been published on French Facebook pages.

Lets see what happens when Eomann Rothwell pulls the investment trigger at Irish Ferries.

If Greece does not do a deal with EC there will be lots of good Greek Ferries becoming available very cheap in the coming months.
Don't be surprised if Stena do a little bit of shopping/shuffling either ;)

Yes, but that was in the days when freight wasn't the main payer of the bills.  The current sailing times suit freight better.  Don't forget, any of the current vessels can carry more freight on their own than Hibernia and Cambria put together!

Good find nice images

That's for Docking in Dover and Calais, no bow or stern ramps on the ferries, all shoreside for faster operation, they will also be fitting a cow catcher on the bow, usually hideous looking on ferries not designed for route.

Stena RoRo's Stena Alegra has finally moved off the mooring in Singapore where it has been for months and looks to be about to commence a major refit before entering service for Interislander on five year charter as a replacement for the Arahura.

Hopefully it will have more luck than when providing cover for the Aratere last year.

They are months behind from the original plan, but better late than never.

Superfast X yet more "technical difficulties" scheduled to move from berth 51 to ocean pier 37 this afternoons sailing and return leg from Holyhead at 8.10 cancelled. There were delays over the holiday weekend which left a lot of disgruntled passengers who complained more about the poor customer service than the delays. They really need to sort this out pretty quick as I sense that customers are already heading to Irish Ferries in large numbers (Swift numbers supposedly way up on Easter last year).

Technical problems can be put down to northern marine ship management (they are just winging it as far as ferrys are concerned).Customer service is a stena line problem.
