Stena Estrid off to Liverpool - is this for maintenance?

Estrid on the berth in Holyhead at the moment, due to sail on the 9am to Dublin, skipped a crossing overnight to allow Adventurer return to its normal slot, Nordica is heading to Birkenhead to replace Horizon.

Stena Estrid is operating normally between Holyhead and Dublin and has now returned to her normal sailing times following Stena Adventurer's return to service after overhaul.

Stena Horizon has arrived in Falmouth ready to enter drydock tomorrow

Looks like Stena Europe's final crossings will be mid April as when Bore Song arrives Nordica will return to Rosslare Fishguard route, so around 14/16 April, at the same time or earlier Horizon should be back to Cherbourg service (last time I think the drydock period for Horizon took a couple of weeks longer than planned.)

Some great shots of Nordica arriving in Liverpool and Horizon departing click right from this link

Don't remember too many sunny evenings like this recently, but link below is to a nice drone shot video of the Stena Europe docking in Rosslare.

A sight that will end soon as it is due to leave the Stena Line Irish Sea fleet once the Bore Song arrives to release the Stena Nordica back to its own route and assuming the jack up rig is returned to service in Fishguard.

Is Stena Horizon still chartered to Stena Line? When does her contract expire?

Ferriesbetterfastercheape

Owner of Stena Horizon is still the Visentini-yard.
You think Stena could replace the Horizon with Atlantic Vision ?

Normally Stena was relative happy with this kind of freight-orientated Ropax with poor Pax-comfort - so i would be really surprised if they now would give back this ship and maybe replace it with the Atlantic Vision which has much higher operation-costs - and on last pictures she is looking also worned (= renovation is needed).

Sure - 1000 "wild" things are thinkable also here in a kind of Stena fleet-carousel, i try 2:
A) They could replace the only 2 days a week needed Stena Spirit in Karlskrona with (renovated) Atlantic Vision.
And then operate with Vision and Spirit the Cherbourg-route - a booming route which has highest ticket- and cabin-prices in Europe.
B) Anything in Frederikshavn with Atlantic Vision is not working - too long for the port.
But is still the big Adventurer needed in Holyhead if now 3000 lm are new on the Liverpool-Dublin freight-route with Bore Song ? I guess that especially a lot of trailer-customers will prefer now the Liverpool route - instead of to pay a truck-driver + fuel-costs up to Holyhead and back. So more freight at Liverpool means less freight for Estrid and Adventurer. So Atlantic Vision could replace Adventurer, then timetable-change with Estrid, and Adventurer replace Horizon - and if they want continue longer with Horizon and want furthermore downsizing of Pax-capacities the Horizon could replace the Jutlandica, and Jutlandica replace Danica. This route is much downrunned in the last 20 years - i am 100% sure that there is not 1 dep. anymore with more than 1000 Pax onboard of Danica. So in summary a 2002 built Superfast would replace the 42-years old big Danica (which her bigger crew, higher fuel-costs etc.).

But would be nevertheless surprising if Stena want really use the Atlantic Vision on her own routes now after selling a sisterferry just a few years ago. Furthermore they know her own charter-contract with Visentini about the Horizon - so if they wanted to replace this ferry - why then they have not ordered any E-Flexer (300 - 500 or the normal 927) in the wished size ? Would be with much lower operation-costs than a 22-years old Superfast.

So i believe more that this Superfast will be chartered (or sold) to another ferry-company.
But who knows - in last years happened a number of surprising things in ferry-business... .

Would assume yes, don't recall any purchase announcement, think its charter fee is around $20,000 per day (going on memory from when it was renewed.
