Stena RoRo have purchased a Japanese ferry - Yamato

http://news.cision.com/stena-roro/r/stena-roro-acquires-ropax-vessel-in-japan,c2743683

From the mock up image it appears that they intended to add quite a lot to the aft end superstructure near the funnel and at 2,300 lane meters not bad freight capacity.

Wonder where this will end up, obviously as it's Stena RORO this could go anywhere.

Deck heights on Stena RoRo new purchase are 4.4 and 4.2 meters high, which probably means they have a client in mind for this ferry in Southern Europe, would not be of use on any of the Stena Line route networks in Northern Europe.

New Dublin - Holyhead ferry Stena Estrid was floated out of its building dock today, another major milestone in the ships build, also visible in float out images it is registered in Cardiff same as Superfast X.

When does Stena Europe go for her refit?

Not officially announced or on booking engine, but Nordica is expected to replace Europe on March 8th until end of May, given level of investment, Would expect announcement in the next two weeks, rumors indicate an investment of 10 million euro which is double what they have spent on the rest of the Irish Sea fleet refits this year, so will probably be a press release.

IFPete

If she is going for a refit of that magnitude you would expect it will go to a reputible yard,

Stena Nordica will be replacing Stena Europe on Tuesday 12th March until 12th June according to live freight timetable.

No official announcement but that is the first confirmation that Stena Europe is going off service this year,

No info yet on where the Europe is gonna be docked?? The trip to Poland, Sweden for example will take a few days....

But rumours still going that the Europe and nautica might be switching routes as well....

No news released yet. Still waiting for some form of press release.

I see the Nordica is running with Stena + again, nice touch while covering the Europe.

With regards to Nautica, not the best fit for the route as a twin deck loader not compatible with either Rosslare or Fishguard ramps, though stranger things have happened

I doubt there will be a press release tbh.  The press release we do get from Stena regarding dry docking is more about generating positive PR for using local yards (H&W usually).

Bit chilly this time of year.  Can't see Nautica coming to Fishguard on a permanent basis tbh.  Her PC is only about 660 since she was rebuilt for a start.
