When will Stena Superfast X come to Dublin for Trials.

ferryfan

Due here at 23:58 Monday night for trials appears to be hanging around until midday Tuesday returning to Holyhead to take over from Nordica who makes her final sailing on the route on the 15:10 ex Dublin

Correction seems to have been a change of plan and Superfast now listed as arriving in Dublin "for trials"on Wednesday at 23.58 departing at 11.59 on Thursday. It seems the plans are a bit liquid and nothing seems to be finalised as of yet.

We shall see when she arrives and departs.  Despite what the Dublin Port website says, I highly doubt she will sit in Dublin for 24 hours on Friday!  Likewise, Stena Nordica is scheduled to arrive on the same berth less than 45 minutes before hand.....

DPC/VTS normally use an arrival time of 2 minutes to midnight when they don't have a confirmed arrival time for a vessel.

What is the difference in the upper deck hight on Superfast X and Vii and VIII

They have an extra 35cm free height in the central 4 lanes of the upper vehicle deck.  See my website for details of how this was achieved ;)

SSF X doesn't need this raised height, as the law in Ireland doesn't allow for trailers that high!

Is SSF X deck height 4.7 for deck 3 & deck 5?

Top ship in the Stena Line fleet for 2014 is the

Stena Superfast VIII

Based on rankings measured by Stena Line's internal customer satisfaction tracking system the Superfast VIII has come top for the second year running. Congratulations due to all onboard and onshore that made that happen.

In other news as also mentioned in Superfast X thread, it is on the way to Dublin this morning should be visible in Dublin bay by now.

With the Stena Superfast X going into service how long will the Nordic be about for, will she be covering all the rest of the Irish Sea refits before being send to pastures new?

ferryfan

Stenas Nordica and Superfast X alongside on the berths in Holyhead for the switch over. Superfast X will be officially named in Dublin later in the week.

Next arrival in Dublin Port is the Stena Superfast X for the first time in service on the route.

Stena Noridca is still alongside D1 at Belfast, despite having apparently being planned to enter service this morning.  Word on facebook is they where doing boat drills this afternoon.

Stena Superfast VII entered they dry dock at H&W this morning.

Superfast X is of course in service, though there have been various reports of work still being carried out in passenger spaces onboard.  How extensive I do not yet know, but not good from a passenger perspective!

I have travelled on the Stena Adventurer also while work was being carried out in the passenger area on her as well and it was very loud so this isn't new with Stena and isn't good passenger service.   Work was being carried out also on Superfast VII & VIII when they both entered service in Belfast also but at least Stena in Belfast had the areas closed off to Passengers

From what I can gather, the work is more cosmetic than structural so it shouldn't bother passengers too much.

Stena Nordica now moved to VT4 prior to starting service between Belfast and Loch Ryan Port/Cairnryan.  Stena's site says she is on-time for the 19:30 sailing, however she is still showing as being at the berth at present (20:10)

Edit:  Just swinging off the berth, at 20:30.
