Stena Embla cleared the Straights of Gibralter earlier and now on the last leg of her delivery voyage. Apparently aiming for Holyhead for some reason. Due alongside 10.00hrs 2nd January.

Embla is first expected to replace Estrid for a week to allow for some modifications to front windows to be carried out, then Edda before replacing the Mersey, both Estrid and Edda have very large windows at front, Embla and Galicia have same size but with what appears to be support/bracing in the centre. There could even be a container of parts on board Embla from the shipyard/ suppliers.

Timing probably not perfect but would have thought a quick visit to drydock for Estrid and Edda (to make sure all good underneath and a quick clean) could be done as last time they will have a spare ship on Irish Sea for quite awhile.

Seems to be reduced numbers of sailing Fishguard - Rosslare for a couple of days for Stena Europe.

Stena Embla will make its Irish Sea debut in Rosslare tomorrow as it takes over from Horizon on Rosslare - Cherbourg for a few sailings - confirmed on Stena Freight Timetable.

Stena Embla has left Belfast, next stop Rosslare for its maiden voyage for Stena Line carrying passengers to Cherbourg.

This is possibly the first time a brand new ferry has sailed out of Rosslare, in modern times, I know the St Christopher was possibly the last in 1981 (when it covered for the Stena Normandica) when it was diverted on its delivery voyage from H&W Belfast to Dover.

The Embla is expected to replace the Edda after the weekend as the Edda has disappeared from the live timetable next week. Could we see an E-Flexer return to Rosslare to give Stena plenty of lanemetres and cabins on the route.

Stena Estrid will apparently replace the Stena Horizon on the Rosslare - Chebourg route as soon as possible, So Embla this weekend and then Estrid will take over, would imagine by the following weekend.

Embla just off the coast near Blackwater at the moment, should be in Rosslare around 9/9.30 this morning

I wonder where RTE got the idea that the Estrid would be taking over?

Photo from Rosslare Port of Stena Embla and Stena Europe alongside at Rosslare. Difference in size is noticeable to say the least!

Great picture, thanks for posting Kieran.

Difference of sixty metres in length is significant, Europe is sitting closer to the berth/ramp but the oldest and newest vessels in the Stena Line fleet together for the first time.

Estrid will defo be taken over at some stage for at least 2months

From Stena website - because of ?operational issues? there will be only one trip each way per day from 15th to 26th January on Fishguard to Rosslare route. So, they have cut the timetable in half for about 10 days.

There is now a Dublin - Cherbourg showing route on the Stena Line live freight timetable. It shows Estrid doing 1  return trip next weekend Jan 23/24. Things are getting very interesting.
