President Macron and Taoiseach agreed the development of a new ireland-france boat and rail ticket yesterday.    It is a reflection of the huge increase in ferry traffic between the two countries.

Surely its time in Dublin and Cork now to improve the foot passenger experience which is far from ideal.

But very good news for ferry travel and for the Ireland-continent links.

Would be great with a connection to central Europe and thus connections to the metropolitan areas in France, Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Switzerland etc. all the way to China.

The routes between Ireland and France have been registered as part of the international rail line network, which opens the door to greater integration of irish rail system into the continental booking system.

It's one of the results of the big increase in direct sailings to the continent since Brexit.

For the sail rail , Stena are still to join into the scheme which is strange given that they operate it on the UK routes.   Brittany Ferries and Irish will operate the scheme which will be enhanced over the next 12 months to make bookings seamless.
