Hello, I hope someone can help me. I'm writing a novel set in the mid 70s (1974/5), and I need a small detail regarding ferry routes from Ireland during that time. I'm hoping there was a ferry going to any (or all) of these places: Iceland, the Faroe Islands, the Shetland Islands or Norway.
All help appreciated, and you'll be credited in the book once it gets published!
Thanks,
Sandra Jensen

Smyril lines and DFDS operates services from the UK to Iceland and Norway at present but I cannot imagine there were ever any services from Ireland to those destinations.

In the mid 70s the only ferry routes from Ireland to the UK and France. It might have been possible to get a berth on a tramper or something, but not a ferry.

Thank you, this actually quite helpful!
