Stena Estrid taking on bunkers at Algeciras. She has been provisionally booked for arrival into Dublin Port for the 23rd December.

Nice Christmas Present!

Presumably she will do Dublin first for Berthing Trials then cross to Holyhead for her homecoming.

marsav68

On the move again with an ETA: 2019-12-22 21:00 in Dublin.

The insider

Homecoming ...she is not going to Cyprus

Well with all the other ferries in Dublin flying the Cypriot it may feel like it's home .

IFPete

Cyprus is a nice island . great food.

Can anyone tell me what is revolutionary about this ship.  Maybe more economical but otherwise what?
Passenger accommodation looks small, very little outside deck space, otherwise just a more modern but more bland version of the current Stena interior design.
What's better in this ship than the Superfast x - nothing as far as I can see!
Very disappointing the loss of Cardiff as a port of registry - nobproper explanation as to why Limassol.

The flag change to Cyprus was for operational reasons due to Brexit , all Stena ferries will be flagged in EU  countries going forward , same too for P&O .

marthyrarth

Flag change because of Brexit - yes, but can someone provide an explanation of why Brexit makes it necessary?

bissiere

what will become of superfast x ?

IFPete

Probably redeployed to Baltic or sold on in longer term.

Basically it was because they want their ships under a EU flag for operational reasons as opposed to a UK flag due to the UK being out of the EU . You have to remember there is the reason given and the real reason . Brexit presented an opportunity for some companies to make changes that  would have been difficult for them to make  before  , to them Brexit has been a blessing in disguise .

The insider

Non EU flagged ships going into EU ports have far higher port and pilotage charges

marthyrarth

Thanks for the explanation.  There is sone sense to it then, maybe, although why not flag in Sweden and why is the Adventurer still British registered, and also the Europe?

A convenient excuse to change the registry before she reaches Holyhead and starts service so nobody will complain?  Foreign flagging is never a good sign.

IFPete

Her Freight Capacity is 180 lorries plus 120 cars. Somewhat bigger than Stena Superfast X.
