Today an investment company has bought into FSG the shipyard that built the WBY.

I don't think this is the end of the shenanigans at the shipyard, SIEM do seem to have got four ROROs built at cost by the yard and presided over the cataclysmic building of the WBY and what surprises are awaiting the Honfleur.

This story could continue for awhile yet.

One more Ro - RO Freighter to be built for Siam Group and IF New Build 2 "JB Shaw" will have its keel laid.

I've been watching this one regularly since they laid the keel in December. They basically started the day WBY was handed over and the MARIA GRAZIA ONORATO was launched.  So approximately 4 months, if they start the 2nd SIEM immediately we could be looking at the start of IF 2 late August?

They started on the Monday after the Honfleur was launched; the Maia grazing onorato las launched in late July or early august

Looks like Honfleur has moved to the other side of the pier and the new launch has taken her place.

Nothing started in the build hall yet. Looks like they are all having an early Easter holiday. Given the amount of metal they have shoved though those big doors over the last year, they most probably deserve it!

Speaking of those doors , they took delivery trough those doors  over the last few days of pre fabricated hull sections from a barge .

The prefabricated hull sections are in the foreground in the image.

They are having a rest for easter.

They must of done a deal with IF to cut them some slack after WB Yeats was delivered.

I heard a rumpour there might be another order to replace IOI as soon as IF2 goes into service.

Looks like work is underway again on 781. Delivery doors are closed again and plenty of activity.

Apparently they've re-assigned almost the entire workforce to the fitting out of Honfleur so they don't have a repeat of the Yeats delays.

That makes total sense. They are working to increase flexibilty within the shipyard to avoid bringing in so many contractors.

They've actually sent some of their own staff (around 60 from memory) home without pay!  FSG aren't out of the woods yet unfortunately and there's also an issue with the state loan guarantees as well (vital to fund the building of more vessels as the purchaser doesn't pay until delivery and the yard are already broke).  Perhaps most concerning is there has been an exodus of design engineers meaning the design team is reportedly overworked - concerning because they apparently haven't finished designing the next Irish Ferries vessel yet!  That's perhaps a future worry though - as it stands HONFLEUR, LEEVSTEN, 781 for Siem (construction of which was postponed in April) are all behind schedule.
