are they all built to same spec
if so how would design for birkinhead Belfast suit Holyhead dublin

They are already at least 3 variations with both DFDS and Brittany Ferries getting their own take on the design.  As for the design suiting both, think what a modern ferry is.  Its a lorry/car park with a restaurant, a bar, a shop, some entertainment and some cabins.  In the case of Holyhead it could just be a case of not using all the cabins - after all the passenger capacity of 1000 is adequate alongside adventurer.

Edit: just to clarify I personally feel Holyhead will get its own version, but if they didn't it wouldn't be the end of the world either.  To date Stena haven't gone into detail if there will be any variation.  It could well be that cabins will be replaced with passenger spaces for example, as looks like will be the case on the DFDS example.

One criticism freight drivers have with Superfast X is the lack of available cabins.

I personally would not rule out all three vessels being similar to allow flexibity during drydocking.

Irish ferries provide these free of charge as part of the price to the freight community.

I can't think of any ferry company on the Irish Sea that doesn't!  To avoid confusion it is a berth provided by Irish Ferries and others, not a single occupancy cabin!  On the part of Stena, in the event that all cabin berths are occupied on SFX (not as regular an occurrence as some would have us believe) then the person making the booking is informed at the time of their booking, and allowed to continue or not.  If a haulier goes ahead and books the driver a crossing without a cabin or leaves it to the last minute  it's hardly Stena's fault tbh!  It's not like they have a monopoly on central corridor services.
