A photograph has appeared on Selim San's Instagram https://www.instagram.com/p/BLL6yBCjTt8/?taken-by=captainselim&hl=en account showing Lucky Star has finally hit the beach.  The 1976 built ship will probably be best remembered as Sally Lines Sally Sun/Eurotraveler, as well as Trans Europa Ferries Larkspur.  She was widely expected to be scrapped as far back as 2013 following engine problems preceding the bankruptcy of TEF, however she appeared to have a bit of a resurgence following her sale to new owners who invested in a dry-docking and repairs to her engines resulting in her being placed into service between Igoumenitsa and Brindisi.  This was short-lived though, as she appears to have been laid up in 2014 following a further engine breakdown.  She had been due to be repaired at the Adriatic Shipyard, Bijela in Croatia in mid 2015, but following the reported bankruptcy of the shipyard it appears her time has finally come to an end at Aliaga despite what appears to be a repaired/replaced stern ramp.  As built, Gedser was a part sister to Townsend Thoresen European Class of freighters built at Shichau Unterweser in Germany, however she was built with significantly more passenger accommodation and lengthened by over 20m in 1990.

Former running mate and part-sister ship Star Fighter has now also been beached, this time at Alang and on 6th December.  Star Fighter is probably best remembered as Townsend Thoresen and P&O's European Enterprise/European Endeavour.
