The News Board / Re: Stena Line Cancel Sailings
« on: January 09, 2021, 04:38:42 pm »
I think it is important we remember this is not solely down to Brexit... there are also restrictions on movement across these islands and this is having an impact as well.

Having said that, many Northern Irish hauliers are avoiding the Dublin routes now after a significant move towards them over the last few years.

Stena have announced the cancellation of a number of sailings on the Irish Sea this weekend due to the large downturn in business being suffered as a result of brexit. A total of 12 sailings have been cancelled this weekend including the 0800 from Rosslare to Fishguard on Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday (and obviously the return legs). The 0215 from Dublin to Holyhead on Sunday and Monday have also been cancelled.

Seatruck Panorama has been chartered to Stena Line to provide extra freight capacity on the Belfast-Birkenhead route. She has also helped out on the Heysham route since passing to work for Stena on 2nd September, proving the benefits of a flexible vessel that can serve both Birkenhead and Heysham.

I dont think Ive seen it reported here but Seatruck Panorama has been on charter to Stena Line since 2nd September to provide extra capacity on the Belfast-Birkenhead route but she also came in handy covering the Heysham route as Stena Scotia was delayed in dry dock.

Scotia spent more than a month at H&W and finally emerged last week.

Stena Estrid will make her way to Belfast from Holyhead this evening to take over and let Stena Superfast VIII go for dry docking at Harland and Wolff.

Stena Nordica is at Holyhead to take over Estrids sailings from the 2030 departure.
