Nothing official but I heard from the Crew Blue Star 1 is supposed to go back to Her owners next year ..I have to say her interior is dreadful .
I feel like I'm travelling on different ships  sometimes. She's not perfect operationally but, unless something has changed dramatically, to me she is a nice, smart ship.

The charter is up I believe but whether they extend it is up to IF and what alternatives they can find. Her owners would be delighted if they did carry on with the charter.

Nice pictures of an interesting ship, thanks :)

Were there many passengers on board?

Just seen Epsilon on apollo duck commercial and GRS Ferry and Cruise brokers

Interesting that she's for sale not charter. A few years ago Stena RoRo were snapping up all of the Visentinis which became available. Putting the Flexers to one side I wonder if they still want to top up their shorter term ro pax charter fleet.

Apparently covering for the Rotterdam ships on overhaul.

I think she would need a fair amount spending on her for the ship to fix her up if she were to operate acceptably in Stena's home market.

Best I think can be hoped for is a sale for further service. More likely for scrap as it stands.

I think you may be the first person to claim that the Visentini class have an issue in bad weather.
They need to be treated carefully as any vessel does - and the major incident on her was an example of that not happening in my view.  But unless virtually empty the consensus is they are very, very good sea boats. Certainly I'd be happier in rough weather on one of them crossing from Ireland to France than almost any other ship sailing around the British Isles.

Cost effective means exactly that - crewing costs, running costs, maintenance costs and capital cost if you own one. They are very highly thought of in the industry for all those reasons. But they're also not purpose-built so would never be as absolutely operationally perfect as something that is - hence your reported cabin issues.

Do Irish Ferries have the financial muscle any more to acquire an expensive piece of kit like the Honfleur? Better surely to keep a supremely cost effective vessel like the Epsilon in place. Or simply drop the extra roster at Holyhead which would make most sense.

It appears the upper tier linkspan at Pembroke Dock is being dismantled
That's interesting, is it permanent or maintenance?

Reported she may need to go to Belfast for dry dock but not sure it looks that serious?

Blue Star 1 out of service after reportedly hitting the pier in Rosslare. Services currently cancelled up to Sunday evening.

A charter is highly unlikely I think.
The most plausible scenario is that IF agreed a purchase of her before their Dover-Calais operation became widely known and DFDS haven't been able to find a way out of it.
The only thing that makes me pause for thought is that ICG haven't made any stock market announcement about such a commitment to purchase but they could probably find ways around that if they put their minds to it.

Other than that the Europe does remain a really lovely ship. Hopefully they have stopped closing off the main lounge as the self service area is a rather depressing legacy of her 2002 refit.

The RailSail trains are specifically scheduled to arrive in line with the sailing times - and through tickets are available - so it's puzzling that they felt unable to use them.

She was reportedly being looked at by Corsica Ferries.
