Irish Continental Group plc : Acquisition of Vessel

Irish Continental Group PLC acquires "Westpac Express".

Irish Continental Group PLC ("ICG") is pleased to announce that it has entered into an agreement for the purchase of the High Speed Craft "Westpac Express" from BALI Westpac 2006, LLC for $13.25m. Under the terms of the purchase agreement, title to the vessel will transfer to ICG on delivery which is expected by late May.

Upon delivery, the vessel will be bareboat chartered to a third party (Sealift Inc) for a firm period of four months with four further one year option periods and a final seven month option at the Charterer's option.

The vessel was built in 2001 by Austal Ships, Australia. It has a gross tonnage of 8,403 tonne, passenger capacity of 900 and a car carrying capacity of 182 units.

Irish Continental Group PLC acquires four lo-lo container vessels for €24.2 million

Irish Continental Group PLC ("ICG") is pleased to announce that it has entered into agreements for the purchase of four lo-lo container vessels for a total consideration of €24.2 million. The vessels are the MV Elbfeeder (built 2008), MV Elbtrader (built 2008) and MV Elbcarrier (built 2007), each which has a capacity for 980 teu (Twenty Foot Equivalent) and a gross tonnage of 8,246 tons and the MV Jork Ranger (built 2005) which has a capacity for 803 teu and a gross tonnage of 7,852 tons.

The MV Elbfeeder will be purchased from MS "Elbfeeder" UG (haftungsbeschrankt) & Co. KG . The MV Elbtrader will be purchased from MS "Elbtrader"GmbH & Co .KG. The MV Elbcarrier will be purchased from MS "Elbcarrier" UG (haftungsbeschrankt) & Co KG. The MV Jork Ranger has been purchased from MS "Jork Ranger" Bernd Becker GmbH & Co KG.

Under the terms of the purchase agreements title to the MV Elbfeeder, MV Elbtrader and MV Elbcarrier will transfer to ICG on delivery of those vessels which is expected in December. Title to the MV Jork Ranger was transferred to ICG on delivery of that vessel. The purchase consideration is payable in cash on completion. The vessels will be offered to the market on a charter basis.

Don't know if this has been posted before. Dublin Port Company have published plans for the Alexandra Basin Redevelopment Project, this proposed development comprises approximately one third of the projects set out in the Dublin Port Masterplan 2012-2040.
 
Proposed in the plan.

1. Redevelopment of Alexandra Basin West including demolition of part of North Wall Quay Extension and its reconfiguration, new quay walls, dredging as well as remediation of contaminated materials, infilling of Graving Dock No.2, provision of new berths and conservation measures including the excavation of Graving Dock No.1 and the construction of an interpretive centre on North Wall Quay Extension.

2. The infilling of Berths 52 and 53 at the eastern end of the Port and the provision of new landside and berthing facilities.

3. Dredging of the approach channel and provision of a marina protection structure to the north of the Poolbeg Yacht, Boat Club and Marina.

The Merrion Lounge / Info needed on ports rules on dangerous goods

I'm looking to get some info on ports in Ireland/UK apart from Dublin port on their rules/bye laws regarding dangerous goods. I need to complete something within the next 10 days and an idea on how other ports operate would help a lot.

Links to their rules/bye laws would be great.

"Passengers and crew evacuated from vessel in Holyhead
Stena Line has confirmed there was an incident at Holyhead port in Anglesey at around 6am this morning as the Stena Line charter ship Finnarrow was berthing in Holyhead en route from Dublin Port which involved the ship’s stabilisers.

All 77 passengers and 43 crew onboard the vessel were evacuated and the vessel was safely berthed.

The vessel is currently docked in Holyhead undergoing inspections and will remain out of service for the immediate future.

Stena Line passengers due to travel on Stena Line’s Holyhead-Dublin service will be accommodated on alternative sailings and are currently being contacted by the company to advise them of the situation."

She was using Ulysses berth in Holyhead & Ulysses is now delayed. From what I hear she has holed herself & no idea of the damaged to ship or berth yet.

Dose anyone know where Irish ferries are dry docking there vessels this year. I see the Isle of Inishmore is taking up Ulysses time slots tomorrow morning. Are they heading to Cammell Laird again?
