To be fair a website for a port isn't that important.

But...

The issue with Rosslare Port is essentially Irish Rail rape the decent income the port generates to subsidise the inefficient rail network.

The port would be much better out of Irish Rail hands, it's only then the other issues will be dealt with.

100% agree but I feel the Ports website shows the level of interest the current management have for the port, At the very least the info provided should be correct.

As a comparison check out Dublin airport website and compare Rosslare port website, both firms provide services in the travel industry (on vastly different levels) one is bang up to date, one is out of date.

I would agree with your first point that the website can illustrate a wider outlook on the business.

I can't accept your second point as an airport website has an entirely different purpose to a port website in that an airport website is very much used by the travelling public and contains very essential travel information.

Given Ulysess' age, I would have expected some serious upgrading/modernisation to have taken place by now. I think I'm right in saying that her arch-rival, Stena Adventurer, has had a couple of facelifts to date.

Mind you Adventurer is hardly classy...

Can't see that much happening if she is going to get a big refit next year.

Cinderella does a very specific 22 hour cruise itinerary; it would be wierd to come out of that market and leave it all to Birka.

There have been suggestions in that direction from Finland/Sweden.  Thought is that Cinderella is a loss maker and there are too many evening options from Stockholm (and this ship is due to be the evening boat from Stockholm).

Especially during the week Cinderella is full of pensioners who travel for free/next to free and spend very little money onboard too.

Good evening!

Viking Line is planning a new ship, that will replace M/S Amorella on the Stockholm-Turku route.
What will happen to Amorella? Viking Line has pre-nounced that the maybe will sell her.
If Viking Line sell her, who might be a buyer?

Very possible the Cinderella will also finish at that time.

Would there be enough traffic to justify a 2 ship service, especially given the competition from WB Yeats?

Exactly. Plus from the autumn the Epsilon will be sailing from Dublin to Cherbourg against the Stena Horizon at Rosslare on the same days.

This is a lot more capacity than the Oscar Wilde was providing and she was sailing on opposite days.

Will market grow?  Will traffic move from Rosslare to the Epsilon at Dublin?

ICG have clearly done some research with customers and are confident in their plan but time will tell.  Certainly doesn't feel like time (yet) to be talking of Stena expansion on the route.

Going off topic here, but

Lagan and Mersey could end up replacing Horizon in Rosslare, offering daily departures to France.

Horizon and Epsilon cost 15,000 US Dollars a day to rent, to Stena and IF respectively, could even see Epsilon in Stena colours when charter with IF ends, Horizon and Epsilon on Rosslare Spain service !

Nothing is confirmed yet - not even that the first e-flexers are replacing the Mersey and Lagan.

The suggestion of a 2-ship Rosslare - Cherbourg service will really depend on what happens on the back of ICG's changes to their French service.

As for the suggestion of a Spanish route, let's see how BF fare before getting excited about adding another two ships to such services.

The last service lacked much freight capacity which meant that it never had a chance to develop much but ports without a port hub at either end always find things more difficult.

Passenger wise, the huge issue Fastnet faced was that passengers compared prices to the Rosslare routes and thought the route was expensive, ignoring the value of a night onboard.

It's never going to happen simply.

I have heard similar rumours about Stena Lagan and Stena Mersey replacing Scottish Viking and Stena Flavia.

Why would they replace the Stena Jutlandica though? By all accounts she is very successful on the Goteborg-Fredrikshavn route and carries large amounts of freight.

Hold on isn't Stena Horizon being replaced by either Stena Lagan or Stena Mersey at Rosslare. Unless Stena Flavia replaces the Horizon when the time comes.

Further to comments elsewhere that it seems most likely (but again unconfirmed) that the Lagan and Mersey will replace the Flavia and Scottish Viking, I wouldn't even say that the Flavia will replace the Horizon as her accommodation configuration is much more profitable for the Cherbourg route.

Of course this may change depending on how things bottle down with Irish Ferries.

The 4 month service suspension quoted would seem rather unusual for either port upgrades or ship upgrades.

They must of resolved this issue with the new builds,

I wonder is it due to the dredging of the port last year.

When ICG were exploring this, the Ulysses was their only ship on the route.

As HHVFerry comments above, it's hard to see exactly why they'd need an even bigger Ulysses fore the foreseeable.
