I saw that alright but still does not confirm the increase in PAX volume.

"In her rebuilt configuration, STENA NORDICA can accommodate (TBC) passengers and up to (TBC) freight vehicles or (TBC) cars."

Credit to Steven for being on the ball with these updates as usual.

Not sure I can see a 1000 PAX increase from a Stena plus and Hyyge lounge on deck 10. Have the new specs been published yet?

Quote from: giftgrub on February 24, 2023, 08:50:02 PMBased on above would the Star go to Dover and Inisheer to Rosslare ?

Another option is Visborg (assuming finished charter with DFDS) Destination Gotland don't need both Drotten and Visborg, they only need one to cover the Summer alongside Visby and Gotland.

If both Stars are bought, I would think BS1 stays in Rosslare and BS2 takes over for Epsilon, Inisheer remaining in Calais.

With the reduction in PAX capacity on Rosslare - Fishguard with Nordica replacing Europe, there would be a need to have greater capacity through Pembroke.

Totally forgot about Visborg, would make a good replacement in Rosslare, good PAX capacity but reduction in lane meters again, however with shift of traffic away from Landbridge may be a practical alternative for sure.

Quote from: IFPete on February 23, 2023, 04:25:38 PMOptions are

1) Blue Star 1 stays until November 2023 or May 2025,
2) Blue Star 1 is purchased and modified to allow two deck bow loading in Pembroke Dock.
3) Honfleur is leased for Rosslare - Pembroke Route.
4) Atlantic Vision or Corsica Linea replaces Blue Star 1
5) TBA replacement ferry comes from Baltic or Med

1) Unlikely to be the case due to IF not wanting to extend the charter but stranger things have happened.

2) This is possibly the most likely outcome, but along with Blue Star 2. I seem to recall that both were available to charter around the same time so potentially could be sold together.

3) As has been reported, seems to be destined to Baleria for a 6-month charter with a prospect of future purchase. (Unless IF have purchased already and are the chartering agent) wishful thinking on my part more so.

4) Not sure a Superfast would be economical enough for this route and have considerably less pax and lane meters also. Vision will remain in Canada until at least the new e-flexer arrives next year and similarly the old SuperFast X is chartered for another 2 years or so.

5) Isle of Inisheer in the short term with a reduced service at Calais possibly?

Another outside option could be a charter with option to purchase one of the Tallink ferries. They all seem to be available for a price currently. Most notable would be Star
only thing is time is running short for an announcement and ship to be brought to service....Interesting times ahead though!

Time to start a Poll?

I wonder if this puts Honfleur back on the possible acquisitions list for Irish Ferries if Polferries have not already secured her? Would be good to see WB Yeats half twin sailing as a sister ship

The specific translated part of the article for anybody having trouble.

"After several years of problems shows the Stena ferry operations returned better figures. Stena Line has 37 ferries on 22 routes and has placed orders for a further four ships, ready to use and operate the Irish Sea from 2019 to 2020."

Will be nice to see stena finally confirm this however!

Epsilon late into Cherbourg showing as a delayed departure also for technical reasons. New departure now scheduled for 23:30 and arrival into Dublin @ 16:30.

Any update on the reports of IF purchasing some EX Superfast's from the Med or maybe a new build/builds?
