At a recent meeting between Wexford County Council and Iarnrod Eireann it was confirmed that there are no plans to close the Rosslare to Gorey rail line as treats been going on in recent years. It was also stated that 2.8 million going to be spent over the next year at  Rosslare Europort.

Has Irish Rail or Stena Line ever considered running a shuttle bus from the train station to the ferry terminal? I recently used the service and it took me around 10 minutes to walk between them pulling a suitcase in wet and windy conditions.

One vivid memory of getting a Grolsch on the Felicity to enjoy with a fresh pizza many many years ago (Rosslare - Fishguard for new readers - early 90's) always thought the bottle contained some amazing exotic beer, the experience did not match the theatre of opening the bottle, the ferry more than made up for it though.

Ah yes Grolsch and the Felicity happy memories :) Enjoyed on many a crossing while on the duty free run! Now a days a pint or three of Heinken goes down well!

I made a crossing on Superfast X on the 02.15 sailing on Friday morning. I boarded as a foot passenger. There was about 20 other foot passengers, a small number of cars but a reasonable amount of freight. First impression on entering the passenger areas in it very much a work in progress in some areas with work being carried out during the crossing. I found most of the lounge and retail areas small compared to the Stena Europe and Stena Adventurer.

On this crossing the Bar/Coffee shop was closed much to the dismay of a group of Liverpool fans who argued with the restaurant staff as the were unable to purchase draught beer. There was only a small selection of bottled beers available.

The main shop only opened for the final 45 minutes of the crossing. The nordic Spa area seems to be in use as a store at the moment. I was piled high with tables, chairs and building materal on this crossing.

After all the hype from Stena Line I must admit that I was unimpressed with the ship.

At least this finally puts the rumours of Stena Europe getting replaced by Stena Nordica to bed once and for all! Must admit I was shocked to learn the Stena Nordica is Dover bound.

An interesting idea that should make for a great trip. I wonder how Irish Ferries operations will compare to those on the Dover Straits.
