Title: Spam Attack
Post by: larry on July 01, 2015, 08:57:14 PM
Hello all,
As many of you will have noticed (it's hard not to), we were subjected to a massive spam attack, I am working to get this all cleaned up as quickly as possible and thanks to Brendan for drawing my attention to it. If you encounter any more of it please feel free to contact me or flag the message.
Many thanks
steady as she goes

Hello,

First off, apologies for that.

At the moment, there are a crazy amount of security features that are designed to prevent (or at least make it difficult to) spam the boards.
The sites traffic is handled via cloudflare (it blocks most bots from doing anything), new members e-mails and IPs are checked against a known spammers database, and posts are also checked for links (if they are to a doggy site, most of the time you won't see them).

I'll look at a better way to manage new members and their initial posts over the weekend, it's the only option we have left at this stage...

However, despite all of that - stuff will get through. If you notice something, just hit report post and we'll look after it straight away.
