Irish Ferries have been ordered by the European Courts of Justice to pay compensation to 20,000 customers who had to change their holidays and/or bookings in 2018 due to the late delivery of WB Yeats full story here on rte.ie

The route is aimed primarily at hauliers offering them a one booking direct service to Ireland from France and was the reason IF gave for launching the service it offers a shorter crossing time than direct sailings and is less likely to be affected by bad weather conditions.

Rumours that Calais Seaways, having been replaced by the new Côte D’Opale, is bound for Irish Ferries as the 2nd ship on the Dover Calais route. These rumours have been on other forums and sites for a few months with nothing to back it up. It is now on her wiki page
"Speculation and rumours have surfaced that she might be sold to Irish Ferries and complement the Isle of Inishmore on their Dover-Calais service, however no official statement has been released from either DFDS, Irish Ferries or anyone else, so her future for now is uncertain".
I don't know but good 2nd hand tonnage is a bit scarce so maybe a short term charter?

How long can IF keep Dover a one ship operation? It's all going well at the moment with the ship in good condition and the weather being fairly good. Are there any rumours about additional tonnage being lined up to join IOI?
Meanwhile Swift is back in business today.

Dublin Swift's return has been pushed back again! Now not on schedule until 2nd week of August. I suspect she won't see any service this year and I wouldn't book to travel on her better to have not paid the extra fare than to try getting it back from IF.

That story reminded me of being on the old Duke of Lancaster way back in 1977 or 78 when a fire broke out on the ship (I think there was some renovations works being carried out onboard). Wherever the fire was I was completely oblivious to it and the first I heard about it was when we were approaching the dock in Dun Laoghaire.
