The News Board / Re: Isle of Inishmore to launch Dover - Calais route
« on: June 16, 2021, 08:09:34 pm »
Inishmore has left the shipyard in Denmark, currently showing Gothenburg as destination (presumably for fuel), though could possibly cross paths with the Stena Jutlandica (a half sister from the same shipyard). Photo opportunities a plenty if that happens.

Next stop one assumes are Dover & Calais for ramp trials and tests, then probably Dunkerque shipyard if any tweaks are needed.

Interesting images posted on two websites

More on Europe here

https://www.westerntelegraph.co.uk/news/business/19370775.stena-europe-due-back-fishguard-rosslare-route-june-24/

Also Europe has turned around on its berth in Belfast, either a sign of progress of maybe giving the paintwork a refresh.

What is wrong with Stena Europe?? About time for Stena to invest in a new vessel or upgrade the linkspan at Fishguard for other vessels within their fleet to dock there. Is it just the linkspan that prevents most of Stena's vessels from docking there or is it something else.

Europe to the best of our knowledge has experienced a bow door failure of some kind, one assumes the inner bow door has broken and given that it is of mature years and quite a complex multi fold door, parts are probably not available off the shelf as such. Fixing takes time.

As for Fishguard, the estimated cost of the redevelopment came in at 20 million Sterling, Stena had budgeted 5/6 million.

Details of the proposed revamp here

Hopefully Europe will be back in 10 days as still on booking system from June 24th.

Stena Horizon filling in on Dublin - Holyhead tonight, instead of laying over in Rosslare as normal on a Monday night, the Stena Horizon is heading to Holyhead to take a Holyhead- Dublin- Holyhead sailing to allow the Stena Estrid to get some scheduled maintenance carried out.

Then returning back to Rosslare to take its sailing to Cherbourg tomorrow evening.

Stena Europe update - still not moved from position on ship repair quay at H&W Belfast.

Doesn?t look like Europe has moved into dry dock.  Still moored in the same place for a good number of days unless data is incorrect on position.

Correct, for some reason has not moved but has appeared several times on vessel movements list, Dublin Swift appears to be in the front of the drydock where you would expect the Europe to go.

On list again for 12.00 tomorrow

Image of the Europe posted on Stena Fanatics page on the Facebook.

Image posted by Colin Diesel Heater.

Area being worked on looks to be the inner bow door area, possibly waiting on parts to be produced before they can be fitted, though delay does seem to be dragging on.

Stena Europe return to service may be delayed further, although still planned to leave Belfast at 23.00 on 3rd of June, it does not appear on freight timetable until 9th of June and then public booking timetable until 24th of June.

Hopefully will be back sooner.

Images of the new look Inishmore posted on the Facebook by Poul Erik Olsen.

Rear ramp removed and new stern door arrangement fitted and hideous ?cow catcher? fitted to the bow. Does not appear to be getting scrubbers fitted, so one assumes it will run on low sulphur fuel instead.

Former Stena Lagan now Stena Scandica has been out on sea trials over the weekend.

Hopefully not long now until it enters service.
