A very interesting and photo laden report on the Stena Estrids new Holyhead- Belfast service as the most flexible E-Flexer takes on another route. One day we will be allowed to travel again and experience these fabulous new ferries. Until then this is the next best:

Nice look at the Stena Adventurer in this blog post, unfortunately not too many people will have experienced the revamped on board offering in the last 18 months !! They have introduced some of the on board concepts from the E-Flexer vessels

You can compare the revamped interior with Scott Mackeys excellent Flickr Album of the Stena Adventurer here:

No surprise, but given the low levels of traffic, Duty Free sales will be huge when we are allowed to travel again.

For Ferry Nerds everywhere

Dom takes to the high seas on the crucial ferry link between Northern Ireland and the UK mainland. Can he keep things shipshape, or will he end up all at sea?

Always be learning is something we all need to live by, today reading about the drydocking of the new Madeline II,

https://media.ctma.ca/carnet/carnet-de-marin-1-des-iles-de-la-madeleine-aux-iles-canaries/

something strange about the images in particular the first image meant a trip to the Google which brought me to the YouTube

The most amazing drydock system I have ever seen. Just thought I would share it. Enjoy !

The News Board / Storm Bella
« on: December 26, 2020, 07:32:54 pm »
Stormy weather to end the year

Stena Europe cancelled tonight

Due to stormy conditions several ferries on cruises

Epsilon and W.b Yeats are on cruises to the South and North of Dublin Port

Stena Foreteller on a Wicklow bay cruise

Would imagine safer at sea than in port/ anchorage

The Merrion Lounge / Interislander order two new ferries
« on: December 22, 2020, 07:30:07 pm »
Interislander have signed a letter of intent for two new ferries to replace their current fleet of three, order to be placed with Hyundai Mipo in Korea

https://www.shippax.com/en/news/kiwirail-signs-loi-with-hmd-to-build-two-new-rail-enabled-interislander-ro-paxes.aspx

Vessels to be replaced include the former Isle of Innisfree - Kaitaki, the former Stena Allegra - Kaiarahi and the purpose built Aratare.

Hyundai are also building the new Isle of Man ferry - Manxman due in 2023.

The Merrion Lounge / Stena RoRo book
« on: December 07, 2020, 08:07:33 pm »
The new book on Stena RoRo published by Breakwater publishing Sweden is now available to order through Ferry Publications

https://www.ferrypubs.co.uk/product/stenability-the-story-of-stena-roro/?fbclid=IwAR0YbxTbTN5c8-RE_kVoYIwL_UkKeWZSjh_k1_FJ5KcwvYvcfSfeRKJ3504

It is also available directly from the publishers

https://breakwater.se/alla-publikationer/breakwater-1/stenability-the-story-of-stena-roro.html

Given the high cost of postage from Sweden it's cheaper through Ferrypubs.

It's from the same team who brought out the fabulous Stena Line - Story of a ferry company

While it won't arrive in time for Christmas, can't think of a better way to start 2021 than with a new ferry book (especially one with over 300 pages)
