Reports that the former Stena Cambria (ex St Anselm) together with her old running mate Stena Hibernia (ex Columbia) are on their way to the breakers at Alang India. Two fantastic ships which I traveled on countless times during the 1990's.

Destination of Altair is now Murmagao in southern India.

Altair now appears to be anchored off Sri Lanka, Whilst Masarrah remains on the Red Sea, seemingly still operational.

The Stena Europe has been carrying Irish Ferries traffic this week as the  Blue Star 1 has gone for repair.
Stena Europe was running 5 hrs late yesterday is now 9 hrs late. They have cancelled this evenings rotation from Rosslare in order to get back on schedule.

Don't think Europe skipped a sailing, way too busy for that, practically impossible for it to keep to time this week as average turnaround has been 3 hours+ combined with seemingly an inability to sail above 17 knots, there has been a noticeable increase in speed today, going over 20 knots this morning.

One thing obvious is that current timetable aside from early morning arrival in Rosslare does not allow for long turnaround but if there are delays you need the higher speed to make time back.

Bluestar 1 currently expecting to leave Belfast on 23rd, so a few more days of  busy sailings ahead.

Europe has spent today in Rosslare with Technical issue, Vinga covers tonight's sailing

Altair ex Stena Cambria on her final journey heading to the breakers in Chittagong, Bangladesh while old running mate Masarrah ex Hibernia, st. Columba is anchored off the coast of the UAE (believed destined for the breakers soon)

Europe appears to be 'chasing' the timetable on the Fishguard route over the past few days.  Many delays due to technical problems.  Now, there are a couple of early sailings ahead of the time table and it looks like no sailings on Friday because of weather.  Not the best week for this route.

ColinB

No sailing to Fishguard today for Europe because of weather but she appears to have left Rosslare and is heading south and now west.  Perhaps freeing up berths in Rosslare and seeking shelter from the northerly winds and bad weather?

Europe is on one of its legendary cruises, this time off the coast of Tramore, no passengers this time as it takes shelter from the storm. Safer at sea than alongside in Rosslare.

A fair few ships unable to dock because of the storm. At 9am this morning Europe is still off the Waterford coast. Estrid and Ulysses sheltering south of Angelsea. Connemara off the Wexford coast. Cotentin and Horizon west of Lands End and Epsilon wisely sheltering off Falmouth. Looks like the full force of the storm went straight down the Irish sea.

Is it me or does Stena Europe operate at a lower average speed on its journeys between Rosslare and Fishguard than other Stena line ships from Rosslare.  Europe seems to track between 16 and 18 kns and others 20+.

Europe can cope under normal conditions at these speeds, which are obviously optimised for fuel efficiency and timetable,  turnaround times helped by twin level loading in Fishguard, however as seen last month with additional traffic (with Irish Ferries off) for some reason was not able to speed up to maintain schedule or make time !

Current timetable does not have much room during daytime sailings in Fishguard and Rosslare if something goes wrong.

With Storm Barra due to hit the south of Ireland tomorrow there have been a number of cancellations on the Rosslare Wales routes. Stena Europe is currently on the way to Fishguard. Her next 2 round trips have been cancelled and shes due to sail again for Rosslare at 23.45 tomorrow night. Blue Star 1 is due to arrive in Rosslare at 6.45 tomorrow and will miss 2 round trips until she resumes her usual pattern on Wednesday with the 845 departure to Pembroke

Adventurer has had a day to forget, off Holyhead since 06.00 am and now nearly 22.00, still unable to dock, Ulysses is also with Adventurer with same issues. Estrid about to arrive on scene.
