Next week, it is expected that DFDS will announce the names of the three ro-pax ferries that will launch its new Dunkerque-Rosslare service, starting on 2 January.
A spokesperson for DFDS has confirmed the identity of 2 vessels to Shippax. The former Brittany Ferries vessel Kerry, and the former Destination Gotland ferry Visby.
Kerry is currently on charter to DFDS providing extra capacity on their Kiel – Klaipeda route, she is expected to move to the Irish Sea after Christmas.
The Visby was built in 2002 by COMEC Guangzhou Shipyard, Guangzhou, China as a fast cruiseferry with a maximum speed of 29kts. The ship, designed as a day ferry, has a capacity of 1500 passengers (with 115 passenger cabins) and deck space for 500 cars (or 120 lorries).
