Title: Kaitaki (Isle of Innisfree)
Post by: ferryfan on May 17, 2017, 11:22:04 AM
ICG have announced the sale of the former Isle of Innisfree to Kiwirail for €45 million. Not  a bad price for a 20 year old ferry which originally cost IR£46 million.

Fantastic price!

At least that will put an end to people speculating about her return.

Least she has a future in New Zeeland.  As it was unlikely she would be any use for the Irish sea routes if she was bought back  as she would had been too  small for the Irish ferries now .  The only difference is she will be reflagged under New Zeeland.   I travelled on her under Irish ferries and I even use her when she was on charter to P&O Portsmouth.

The same newspaper article mentioned that the new build in Germany was on schedule for delivery or June 2018 , that's a month later than he original  date of May 2018.

About the same price as a half decent football player then!

More likely used to pay existing debts I would have thought ;).
