Why is a ship of a company that let Cork down on two occasions always shown on the top of this website? Why not alternate between the operators.

Why were there no comments about the late running / delays of the  "Long Road Operators" over the past few days?

Keep up the great work Fastnet Line.

2? B&I and Irish Ferries are seperate companies.

I can work on alternating the ships that feature ontop of the site, but the Ulysses is the largest car ferry in the world, that is what she is up there. And Irish Ferries have always been far more accommodating than the other major operator.

The following Cork routes were axed.

1. Cherbourg
2. Le Harve

The B&I Brand and route network are wholly owned by Irish Ferries.

Ulysses              50,938 GT approx
Color Fantasy    75,027 GT approx

It would be nice to see all the operators getting a chance to have thier image on top.

I'm moving this to new thread as it has nothing to do with Fastnet Line/Cork-Swansea.

Both routes were pulled at the same time, when ICG re-organised their French operations, and reduced it to a one ship service..
When the B&I closed Cork - Pembroke, it was owned by the State, not ICG.

Ulysses has more lane meters, which makes her the largest car ferry in the world.
ICG to date are the only people that have given me use of all press images, that is why it's the Ulysses that is up there.

Does anyone else feel I should start alternating the ships used as banners on the site?

In terms of lane meters Ulysses is about to be superceded by Stena Hollandica as the worlds largest car ferry in service.
However , is Ulysses appropriate as a header picture for this site? I dont see why not.
Ulysses is essentially the flagship vessel on the Irish Sea , the largest and most modern in appearance , we could debate till the end of days which ship is the best internally , but Ulysses is well appointed for a short sea crossing , even if she is a giant floating car park for the first 8 or 9 decks , and given the current financial climate Ulysses will most likely be the flagship vessel for some time to come.
Personally I dont see anything wrong with Ulysses as the header picture , and besides , who knows , one day we may see Ulysses refitted with more passenger accomadation and fewer lane meters operating a long distance service from Cork , if we have learned anything from the Fastnet Line project , it is that ANYTHING is possible.

I was unaware that jugement of the size of a Car Ferry was on the number of lane metres.

Uylsses is Certailly the largest Cypriot Car Cerry.

I think it would be nice if it were technically not too cumbersome to alternate the vessel at the top of the page.

Alternating images could be added to the main site much easier than the forums. The problem is that the index page appears roughly the same on every browser, and I don't want to go fiddeling with the underlying code there, and I dont have press images from the other main operator, despite my best efforts...

Ulysses is the Irish Sea's flag ship, and the site started out as Irish Ferries only, I just like her up there...
